VL Summit 2018

 PLENUM SESSIONS

10 – 11 am
1. THE EUROPEAN ECONOMY – a powerhouse going forward?

Europe has knowledge and insight, but we lack crucial drive and venture capital; as a result, we have unfulfilled potential. Can Europe crack the code for how to get back on the growth track? Can we lay the groundwork for healthy economic growth in Europe?

Speakers:
Frans Timmermanns - First Vice President of the European Commission
Lars Rohde - Chairman of the Board of Governors of Danmarks Nationalbank

1 – 2 pm
2. EUROPEAN INNOVATION

Europe is being challenged by Asia where the speed of developments is faster than ever, with targeted focus on enhancing innovation in specific sectors. In the US, vast capital resources have been generated for investment in innovation, brilliantly exemplified by Google, Apple and Amazon. The digital revolution and robotics are sweeping across our lives, impacting innovation, leadership and our companies’ finances. Are we prepared to address these challenges?

Speakers:
Ulrik Vestergaard Knudsen - Permanent Secretary, Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs

David Lloyd - Managing Director, UK& NordIcs, Alibaba Group
Jais Valeur - CEO, Danish Crown

5 – 6 pm
3. EUROPEAN LEADERSHIP

Why are some companies better than others at discerning current trends, restrictions and regulations in the world around them? Are there any particular aspects of Europe’s leadership culture which warrant optimism and should be developed? In other words, could principles of European leadership be a decisive factor for success?

Speakers:
Camilla Sylvest - EVP, Novo Nordisk
Jens Bjørn Andersen - CEO, DSV

Thomas Schulz - CEO, FLSmidth
